When I saw the prompt for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday I was feeling pretty confident, but it ended up being a lot harder than I anticipated to choose characters. Here are the ten I ended up going with.
Jessica Day from New Girl
Jess is basically already me, but on steroids.

Bella Swan from Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Honestly, I was just obsessed with Twilight when the series was coming out and my young angsty self thought Bella was the best character I had ever read. Any time I reread the series I feel all the nostalgia and I’ll never not love her.

Gabi from Sesame Street
Being on Sesame Street is actually kind of on my bucket list and Gabi was always my favorite (human) character.

Tally Youngblood from Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
This is another series that I devoured multiple times when I was younger and I always admired Tally so much. Honestly, David may have been my first book boyfriend.

Lena Duchannes from Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
The idea of being a caster sounds really cool. I also think I’d like living in the south and I’d take Lena’s house any day of the week.

Hilda from Hilda by Luke Pearson
HILDA IS THE CUTEST AND SPUNKIEST AND MOST CARING CINNAMON ROLL TO EVER EXIST!

Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy
I am SO OBSESSED with Grey’s Anatomy. Meredith has definitely been through some shit, but she’s strong and doesn’t let anybody walk over her and I admire that a lot.

Mermista from She-Ra and the Princess of Power
Mermista speaks to my soul. I already love anybody with water powers, but her stoic attitude and the way she always speaks her mind is wonderful.

Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Luna is so quirky and fun that being her would just be an absolute delight.

Sabrina Spellman from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Sabrina is a badass and one of the coolest characters I’ve ever seen and I’d love to be a witch of this nature.

Which characters would you love to switch places with, even for just a day? Let me know in the comments!
If you are interested in finding out more about any of the books/shows listed above, all links will take you to the respective Goodreads/IMDB page.
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted each week by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl. Visit her blog to find out which characters she’d switch places with and find other’s lists as well!

I would never have thought of Sesame Street, but that’s brilliant! I love a chance to hang with all the characters there.

I love the Count!

He is such a fun character! My son is super into Sesame Street so we’ve been watching the newer seasons together and I’m disappointed that the Count isn’t in it as much.

Could it be that the puppeteer died of old age? Sadly. Or that HBO didn’t like him? Hmmmm

I’m not a kid person so I wouldn’t want to switch places with Jess and have to be a teacher, but I do love her as a character. I definitely would switch places with Sabrina though, she’s awesome.

Awww, Lena Duchanes is a really good choice. I’d die to live even for a day in Beautiful Creatures’ world. Love this series.

Ooh yes I love Lena and Beautiful Creatures (except the movie was a disaster and I just don’t acknowledge it)! It would be so cool to be a caster! I’d love to have the boldness and self-acceptance of Luna for sure.

I actually really loved the movie when it came out, but I haven’t seen it since it released and my preferences have definitely changed a lot since then. That’s a series that I want to reread but am super nervous about because I really don’t want my opinion to change.

Mari, this post put a smile on my face. I am glad you included such iconic characters. I think Lena Duchannes, in particular, left a mark for sure. Just the angsty, mysterious, and clever personality of hers (and I think her romance with Ethan, coupled with her family’s intriguing connection to the town they live in) made her unforgettable. I think I liked her cousin Ridley a lot. It’s this love that makes me unsure if I can read those two books about her and Link. They’re my favorite characters in that series.
Bella has some dubious relationship boundaries but I remember that moment when she wakes up after giving birth. It’s like BAM. Her badassery increased exponentially. Plus, I kind of think she was powerful all along. Maybe, from her point of view, her love for Edward, his family, and becoming a vampire was what she needed to feel like she belonged. (I love her friendship with Alice a lot).
I am behind on New Girl and Hida (I have started both shows, I promise). But, I have seen enough to see that these cute jellybeans are wonderful! So good to visit your blog.

I’m so glad I was able to put a smile on your face! I haven’t read the two books about Ridley and Link since they were released, and my preferences have definitely changed since them, but I remember really enjoying both of them. I totally understand your hesitency to read them though. I refuse to read any of the extra tidbits released through Pottermore about Harry Potter because I just want that series to stay as magical as it was in the books.
Bella just resonated with me so deeply. From the depression she went through to not feeling like she fit in, and how flawed of a character I think she is too. She’ll always have a special place in my heart.
Even though I listed Jessica as one of my characters, I actually haven’t seen all of New Girl. I really couldn’t even tell you what episodes I’ve seen, but every time I see her I love her. Hilda was such a quick show to get through though, and since there is currently only one season I just couldn’t turn it off.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for such a meaningful comment! I definitely hope to see you again. ❤
