Sunday Stacks Week Two

I’ve decided to turn Sunday Stacks into a weeklyish post! I may skip a week every now and then, but I really enjoyed sharing my TBR with y’all last week, so I want to continue doing it! First I’ll recap the previous week’s TBR, let you know which books I finished, and then I’ll share with you the upcoming list!

The first book I read from my TBR last week was The Past and Other Things That Should Stay Buried. I can tell why a lot of people love this one, but it really just wasn’t for me. It was an incredibly fast read, but the entire book is basically Dino and July arguing. Confrontation and arguments like that give me a lot of anxiety, so I wasn’t a huge fan.

I really thought I was going to be telling y’all that the rest of my TBR went unread, but I managed to get through When We Were Lost on Saturday. My feelings are so conflicted on this one. I’m a sucker for a good survival story, and while the plot was (mostly) good, the rest wasn’t. I’ll have to sit on this one for a minute before I fully decided what I think about it. It releases in June, so look for a review at some point in May!

Last week was really busy so I wasn’t able to do very much reading, which means that Something Like Gravity is getting pushed into next week. This weekend though I was able to work on a lot of blogging and get almost the next two weeks of posts scheduled which frees me up to focus on the books this week.

The wonderful folks from The NOVL sent me Amelia Westlake Was Never Here and y’all I really think this might be the book of my dreams? It’s being pitched as a “fiercly funny, queer romantic comedy” about two girls who fight back against harassment and inequality at their elite private school. This book just has my name written all over it and I am so ready.

I’ve been looking forward to Deposing Nathan for SO LONG. Luckily, I’m on the blog tour ran by Fantastic Flying Book Club happening from May 1 through May 7. I really think I did a little happy dance when I saw the email come through with the tour schedule. Be sure to check back in on May 2 so you can see my review of the book and the official book playlist that the author, Zack Smedley, will be sharing with us!

I started reading How to Make Friends With the Dark last week, so I’m already about a third of the way through it. This book is really amazing so far, and it’s punching me in the feels like I had a feeling it would. Kathleen Glasgow really knows how to write the relatable contemporaries. Keep an eye on this space next Monday when I’ll have a full review up!

My just for me book this week is going to be the middle grade novel The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise. The instant I saw this cover I knew it was for me. Target had an amazing buy 2 get 1 free sale on their books maybe a month or so ago, so I snatched this one up. I’ve been having exceptional luck with middle grade novels lately, so hopefully this one won’t let me down.

Have you read any of these books? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Also, let me know what book(s) you’re planning on reading this week!

  1. I like the idea of a weekly TBR report! You managed to schedule posts for 2 weeks which is really awesome!! I’m kind of struggling at the moment writing 1 post at a time but do hope to start scheduling in advance once my MBA gets over in May… Hope you can finish your TRB for this week 😊

    1. Thanks so much for letting me know that you like weekly TBR posts! There’s definitely nothing wrong with writing one post at a time. Just the fact that you’re writing something is impressive! Especially while working on a MBA at the same time.
