Lover has been on repeat since it’s release and I’m head over heels in love with it! I was planning on doing a post where I matched a book up with each song but it seemed like a million people were already doing that so I thought why not make a book tag instead?
Rules
- Know somebody who loves Taylor? Tag them! If you don’t know of anybody though, that’s okay too, you should still do the tag!
- There is a prompt for each song but don’t feel pressured to do them all!
- Link back to this post so Mari will get a notification that you did it and can come see your answers! Also because crediting creators is nice.
- Feel free to use any of the graphics or make your own if you want!

Hungry by H.A. Swain is one of my least favorite books. The premise is interesting but the execution was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. And what was that ending?! A dumpster fire.

I decided to put the romantic tones of this song aside and instead focus on the bad vibes I get from it. Winona and Lucille, from Hello Girls by Brittany Cavallaro and Emily Henry, have both been through a ton of shit but they never let it control their lives. They take things into their own hands and are such badasses. Read my full review to find out why I would die for these girls.

This song just screams Anna and Etienne from Stephanie Perkins’ Anna and the French Kiss. Maybe it’s because their story takes place in Paris, the City of Love, or because they’re just destined to be together. I can totally see the two of them slow dancing to Lover though.

I could go on for days and days about all the incredibly important themes present in Sonia Hartl’s debut, Have a Little Faith in Me, but in order to stay on topic we’ll just say that yes it does have feminist themes! The entire thing is empowering and I loved it so much. Read my full review to see me gush about it more!

The Archer is a song that, for me, captures what it’s like to have anxiety very well. I recently read Six Goodbyes We Never Said and this book also perfectly captured anxiety. This own voices novel tackled big topics and Ganger’s writing style was poetic. Read my full review to learn more.

Doing this tag has made me realize that I need to re-read My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick! This book was so sweet and swoon worthy and not only does it feature the boy next door trope but their relationship is also a secret for the first half of the story. It’s everything good in this world wrapped up in one book.

Internment by Samira Ahmed is one I haven’t read yet *shakes fist at the sky* but oh do I want to. It’s set in a near-future United States and honestly it feels like that future could be tomorrow. Ahmed’s story really couldn’t have been better timed and I hope reader’s are seeing it as a rally cry that now is the time to stand up and resist.

This one again has to go to Anna and Etienne. It would practically be a crime to choose any other couple. This song fits them perfectly.

It isn’t often that I have to put a book down because I’m feeling too many things but it did happen with Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall. This was an exceptional book and the depictions of self-harm were just a little too triggering for me at the time.

Gayle Forman’s If I Stay is the first book I remember completely wrapping itself around my very existence. When I originally read it I knew it was something special but I definitely didn’t realize how many seasons of my life it would continue to be there for. And I know I somehow find a way to work this book into everything but it really is so important to me.

How it Feels to Float by Helena Fox is a powerful debut that takes place in Australia. It gives such a raw and honest look at grief while also examining mental illness and sexuality. Read my full review to see the other reasons I adore this book and listen to the playlist I made for it.

Friends, if you haven’t yet read The Color Project by Sierra Abrams then you need to remedy that. This adorable contemporary about Bee and Levi was so sweet and the two are absolute relationship goals. Bee goes through a lot over the course of the book and loses a great deal but she also gains a great amount, too. I can picture Bee putting this song on repeat.

Hello, historical fiction! This is a genre I like even less than fantasy which really says a lot. I’m pleased to say, though, that The Valiant by Lesley Livingston is the rare exception to this! It was so fast paced and exciting and I’m really glad I gave it a chance. I still need to finish the series but I’m hoping the rest of the books are just as good.

I will continuously scream about Deposing Nathan by Zack Smedley until my dying day. This novel is so important and I need all of you to read it right now. Seriously, if I had the money to give everybody a book this is the one I would choose. It’s an emotional roller coaster that touches on some very hard but necessary issues. Read my full review then read the book.

Definitely Piper from The Liar’s Daughter by Megan Cooley Peterson. She does some pretty horrible things over the course of the book but when you think about all she’s gone through it makes sense. At the end of the day all she wants is to protect her family and once the lies have all been unraveled things change a lot. Read my full review of this debut releasing next month!

What the hell was I thinking when I made this the prompt?! It’s pretty impossible to only choose one. I’m going with Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes though. I think this is one of her more popular titles but in general I feel like she doesn’t get the credit she deserves. This one is a great look at mental illness and I adore Maguire and Jordy.

There’s no way I can say anything other than Alice, Ryan, and Feenie from Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann. This trio didn’t get along throughout the entire book but their relationship is so special and I loved how in the end they listened to each other and worked things out. They’re hilarious and I wish I was friends with them. Read my full review of this amazing book!

I only recently discovered Katie Cotugno but after reading Fireworks I am hooked. It was the 90s book I had been so desperately searching for. Dana tags along to her friend Olivia’s audition and somehow finds herself training to be a pop star. Her world changes very quickly and suddenly but some of the new beginnings she discovers are a little more subtle.
So there it is – my Lover book tag! I hope y’all enjoyed reading it as much as I did making it and I really hope you do it on your own blog! Keep reading to see all of the prompts in a condensed list to hopefully make it easier on those completing the tag and to see who I’m tagging to do it!

Heyy!! I absolutely love this tag! Sadly, I do not have a blog or anything to make a post for this tag but I was wondering if I could use this for my booktube video I’m creating for Taylor Swift’s birthday.
