Guest Post: Wicked as You Wish Official Dream Cast by Rin Chupeco + Giveaway!

Huge thank you to Rin Chupeco for being here today sharing the official dream cast for her new book, Wicked as You Wish!

Tala Warnock: Ylona Garcia

She is everything how I imagined Tala to look! Small and seemingly harmless, but very much kickass!

Alexei Tsarevich: George Shelley

I really believe that he has the range to pull off someone who’s both angry that the world has turned its back on him, and terrified that he might not be the good king people expect him to be, at the same time!

Kensington Inoue: Yuu Shirota / Makenyu Maeda

Fun fact: Yuu as Ken was actually the first casting to come to my mind for this book, and one of like two or three from the characters that I’d let myself cast over the years. Unfortunately, I’d started writing this story over ten years ago, which means Yuu Shirota has aged out of the role since then – although he still looks like he could pass for a teen! Yuu’s been so closely tied of my view of Ken for nearly a decade that it’s difficult for me to see anyone else as him, but looks-wise – maybe Makenyu Maeda?

Loki: Min Junqian

Min is actually a goodlooking former member of a boy band who is also a girl band (members are either trans or confirmed having gender neutral identities), and I kinda think it suits Loki absolutely. Plus Min always looks like they’re ready to win a fight and look cool doing so.

West: Noah Schnapp

I think he’d be perfect for bringing that slightly-naive-but-actually-unintentionally-perceptive quality that West always has going on.

Zoe: Millie Bobby Brown

I am most definitely spoiled because of Stranger Things, but I feel like Millie would absolutely bring something amazing to the table as a sort-of Hermione if she was a physical fighter, like Zoe is.

Cole: Diego Tinoco

He’s got a really intense, brooding quality that I think Cole has, but also at the same time come off as vulnerable despite it.

Nya: Marsai Martin

Again, I’m spoiled because Marsai Martin is such a witty, lovable actress you can’t help rooting for, and I think she’d bring some of that straight-talking pragmatism to Nya’s character.

Lumina Makiling-Warnock: Judy Ann Santos

She is an immensely popular actress in the Philippines for good reason, and I like that she can play both sensitive motherly and fierce take-no-prisoners roles, which is Lumina’s strength.

Kay Warnock: Rory McCann

I’ve been a huge fan of Rory ever since the TV series Book Club and have the weirdest crush on him (google his Scott’s Porage Oats commercials, I die every time) but his role as The Hound in Game of Thrones absolutely cemented him as one of my favorite actors. He was the one I had in mind when I started writing Tala’s father, and he’d bring awesome humor and angst to the role.

Snow Queen: Eva Green

I didn’t know who Eva Green was until Penny Dreadful, and I was hooked after that. She rocks as a mad queen warrior, she rocks as a damsel who can still somehow channel vulnerability and middle finger energy all at once. She would be perfect for my deranged Snow Queen!

The firebird: Danny Devito

I mean…. technically, in theory, just throwing this out as a possibility, if the firebird could hypothetically speak it would be all about that Danny Devito chaotic energy. I’m kinda mad now that the firebird can’t speak so I could dream cast Danny Devito for the role.

Despite an unsettling resemblance to Japanese revenants, Rin always maintains her sense of hummus. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she keeps four pets: a dog, two birds, and a husband. Dances like the neighbors are watching.

She is represented by Rebecca Podos of the Helen Rees Agency. She is also fond of speaking in the third person, and may as well finish this short bio in this manner. While she does not always get to check her Goodreads page, she does answer questions posed to her here as promptly as she is able to.

Many years ago, the magical Kingdom of Avalon was left desolate and encased in ice when the evil Snow Queen waged war on the powerful country. Its former citizens are now refugees in a world mostly devoid of magic. Which is why the crown prince and his protectors are stuck in…Arizona.
Prince Alexei, the sole survivor of the Avalon royal family, is in hiding in a town so boring, magic doesn’t even work there. Few know his secret identity, but his friend Tala is one of them. Tala doesn’t mind—she has secrets of her own. Namely, that she’s a spellbreaker, someone who negates magic.
Then hope for their abandoned homeland reignites when a famous creature of legend, and Avalon’s most powerful weapon, the Firebird, appears for the first time in decades. Alex and Tala unite with a ragtag group of new friends to journey back to Avalon for a showdown that will change the world as they know it.
