I was sitting on the couch reading thinking about my overwhelming TBR and how I’ll never get through it within my lifetime when the brilliant idea to add to it hit me out of nowhere. Except, what if I didn’t just add to it myself… What if I let YOU choose a book for me to read each month?
Y’all can choose any book (only one) that you would force me to read if you could. I’ll write all the titles down, cut them out, drop them in a hat or jar or some sort of receptacle, and randomly choose four. I’ll then take those four titles, put them in a Twitter poll (follow me so you don’t miss the poll), and let everybody vote on which book I read.
I promise to read whatever book is chosen. It doesn’t matter what genre or age range – as long as I can feasibly procure a copy through the library or I have the funds to buy it – I’ll read it.
After I read the book I’ll do a blog post summing up my reading experience! Think of it like a vlog but in text form? With pictures so it isn’t boring. Whatever you want to call that is what I’ll be doing! Then I’ll create another poll, let y’all choose the book, and do it all over again the next month!
Lately I’ve just been feeling like I’m settling into a routine where I do the same types of posts featuring the same types of books. I want to share in the joy you feel from your favorite books and broaden my horizons. And it’s entirely possible that somebody will suggest a book I’ve already read. If that happens I’ll 100% do a reread because I’m horrible at doing them on my own.
I also love interacting with all of you and want more conversations to be happening! Hopefully this will help that happen.
Unfortunately, I can’t promise I’ll enjoy every book that’s suggested, because not every book is for every reader, but I will give each one my best effort.
What do you think? Is this a feature you’re looking forward to? If you could force me to read any book – which one would it be? Let me know in the comments!
I think this sounds great! if I were to “force” to read one book then it has to be Sadie by Courtney Sunmers if you haven’t read it already 😉

I read that one earlier in the year but I’ll put it in as a reread! Thanks for giving me a book!!

This is such a cool idea, I don’t know if I’d be able to stick to something like this! If you haven’t already read it, I’d say The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. It’s one of my favorites!

I agree with Monika, you are super brave for doing this 😂😂 I’m a total mood reader and am really bad at forcing myself to read books 😂 I would choose Heroine Complex to have you read! Its about a girl whose boss is a Superhero and she has to basically manage all the Superhero stuff! Its awesome and fun 😀

I’m a huge mood reader too and usually fail miserably any time I try to set a TBR for myself so this will definitely be a challenge but I am READY! I haven’t read Heroine Complex yet – I’ll add it to the list! Thank you so much for giving me a book suggestion!

Thank you, Caitlin! It’s an idea I’m really excited about and I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out! This morning I woke up and remembered the decisions that were made last night and it hit me that people would make me read fantasy and I’m nervous but I’m sticking to it haha. I’ll add Strange the Dreamer and Crier’s War to the list!

Wow this is brilliant but terrifying! I would pick Radio Silence by Alice Oseman or The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang ( I haven’t read these yet but they have a lot of hype I’m sorry I’m pretty much using you as a guinea pig haha!)

Ah, thank you so much! I’m a little nervous because it’s going to make me read books outside of my comfort zone but I think it will be good for me and fun to do!

Oooo this sounds like a lot of fun! I recommend The Dragon Warrior by Katie Zhao (if you like mythology and humor in MG) and The Bookworm Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts (bookworm protagonist, humor, cute romance).

I put both of those on the list! I actually heard about The Dragon Warrior a couple weeks ago and thought it sounded intersting. Thanks so much for the suggestions!
